| Jean-Léon Gérôme
(1824 1904) was a French painter and sculptor who resisted
the new movement of Impressionism begun by Monet and Manet,
continuing the development and conservation of French neo-classicism.
He also produced many works in a historical style, Greek mythology,
Orientalist style and animals, bringing the French Empire tradition
to an artistic climax. |
