Tadashi Asoma
|
Born in Japan, the painter Tadashi Asoma was awarded a Japanese Government scholarship to study in Paris in 1956. In Paris he was profoundly influenced by the Impressionists, their colors, their use of patterns, design and graphic abstraction. Afterwards Asoma came as a visitor to the U.S., Asoma where he was enthusiastic about the abstract and graphic quality of American contemporary artists. So he decided to settle in the U.S. permanently with his family. So the French and American influences are evident in Asoma's work, but his style is also rooted in his Japanese heritage with the asymmetry, partial abstraction and cropped perspective of a larger landscape recalling the famous woodblock printmakers. |
