Pietro Annigoni

Pietro Annigoni, Cavaliere di Gran Croce (1910 - 1988) was an Italian portrait and fresco painter. Annigoni is most famous for his 1954 portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Other subjects painted by Annigoni were Pope John XXIII, the Shah of Iran, ballet legend Margot Fonteyn, and the Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur. Pietro Annigoni was chosen by TIME magazine to paint President of the United States John F. Kennedy for the (January 5) 1962 Person of the Year cover.
