This travelogue describes the author's trip to West Africa (Ghana, Togo and Benin) in March and April of 2006. The why of this trip is was to see a total solar eclipse. Since it's somewhat absurd to plan a major trip just around a minutes-long event, the author figured that it made sense to go somewhere that is interesting for other reasons.

A visit to the Gambia: The Safari Garden Hotel, Katchikally Crocodile Pool, Bijilo Forest Park, Georgetown, Bird Safari Camp, Stone circles of Wasu, Basse Santa Su, Fajara, Tanji, Banjul.

Ethiopia resembles no other country in Africa or anywhere else". Its mountainous, breathtaking landscapes, full of wild flowers and hosting a multitude of birds; its christian orthodox tradition, dating from the fourth century, and the kindness and pride of its people are unique. Never colonised, except during the 5 year Italian annexation, Ethiopia keeps its freshness and authenticity.
This site is the account of the author's trips in this extraordinary country.
